I love going to the U.S. Open with my friend Janice. She is probably the only person I know who will run from court to court watching random matches, regardless of who plays. We saw some exciting people play including Martina Hingis, Svetlana Kuznetsova, dreamy (and often shirtless) Novak Djokovic, Maria Kirilenko, Anastasia Rodionova, Flavia Penneta, and Feliciano Lopez. We also ran right into Fabrice Santoro and Nadia Petrova.
But, definitely the highlight of the day was watching Agnes Szavay destroy her opponent. We have deemed her the future of women's tennis. Janice said it best when she said, "What is wrong with these people? Don't they know that they should sit and watch greatness as it happens?" Yup, we think she's that good. I haven't felt this strong since Steffi Graf.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Agnes Szavay of Hungary:
After she won, I pushed someone aside to get her autograph and wish her well. That's how strongly I felt. Later.
